Movie Technique

Good for planning for a dreaded event

4:36

Use the Movie Technique to neutralize the intensity of a specific memory or something that you anticipate will happen that has “emotional heat”.

Tap on the acupressure points while you do the following:

1.   Give your specific event a “movie title”.

2.   As you think about it, give it a start and stop time.

3.   How intense is it when you think about it? Give it an intensity number, 0-10.

4.   Tap on all the acupressure points in this picture while saying the movie title and thinking about the event.

5.   Rescore the intensity level. This gives you a baseline to begin to work from as you now identify and tap on the specific aspects of the “movie” causing you upset.

6.   Run the movie in your mind from the beginning and when you get to a frame that has some intensity, stop and tap on all the acupressure points, holding in your mind the image of this frame. See if you can identify the specific things in the frame that are causing the intensity and hold this in your mind as you tap, you can even put words to it as you tap. You may need to do a few rounds of tapping until the intensity reduces to a manageable level.

7.   Start the movie in your mind again from the beginning, run it in your head and again stop on any frame of the movie that has some intensity. Repeat step #6 as many times as needed until you can run the movie and feel the intensity level as a zero or very manageable.

Location of Tapping Points:

Here is a good example of Dawson Church using the Movie Technique with a women who has an upsetting memory about a pony. You will notice he adds in the gamut sequence with her that I teach you in DIY Eye Movement video.
